What is an epoxy river table?

An epoxy river table, also called a resin river table, pairs live-edge wood with a channel of cast resin. Usually two slabs are set with their natural edges facing each other and the resin runs between them like a river. The resin can be clear, tinted or solid, and it can run the full length, pool into a lake, or just fill the checks and voids in a single slab.

Because the river follows the slab's own edges, every epoxy table is planned around the wood you pick. Dave will tell you honestly whether a slab suits a river or is better left solid.

Resin builds from the shop

Midnight Sky is black walnut with a deep blue epoxy river, and its build reached 1.3 million views on TikTok. Other pieces from the shop include a black walnut top with a black river, a live-edge table with a turquoise resin lake, a round top with a frosted resin river around a log-cookie inlay, and a long live-edge top with a resin river, lined with a full row of chairs.

Choosing wood, resin color and base

Black walnut is the most popular wood for a resin river because the dark grain contrasts with almost any resin color. Other gallery species work too, depending on the slab. For resin, clients choose deep blues, black, turquoise, frosted white or clear. The base is usually black steel, either legs, a pedestal or a heavier X-frame, sized so the top doesn't flex.

  • Full river: resin runs the length between two slabs
  • Lake or pool: resin fills a wide void in one area
  • Resin fills: black or clear resin in natural checks only
  • Shapes: rectangular, round or oval, depending on the slabs

Epoxy dining, coffee and conference tables

The same river method scales from a coffee table to a boardroom. Epoxy dining tables are sized to your seat count, epoxy coffee tables to the sofa and room, and epoxy conference tables to the meeting room, with power and data planned into the base when you need it.

What does an epoxy table cost?

Resin river tables typically range from $5,000 to $20,000+, depending on size, wood species, resin colors and base style. The biggest factors are the size of the top, the slabs, how much resin the river needs, and the base. You get a free, detailed quote for your design.

Custom pieces can take up to six months from design to delivery, depending on the slab, drying, resin work and the shop schedule. You get a specific timeline with your quote. Resin work adds pour and cure time, which is part of why a resin build takes longer than a store-bought table. Delivery available, quoted per order; installation quoted separately.

Black walnut is the most popular choice because its dark grain contrasts with most resin colors, and the gallery usually has walnut slabs on hand. Other species work too, depending on the slab's edges and size.

Can I choose the resin color?

Yes. Past tables have used deep blue, black, turquoise, frosted white and clear resin. Bring a color idea or a photo and Dave will match the resin to your slab.

Yes. The tops are finished for everyday use, and our care guide explains how to look after resin and wood surfaces.

Can I see the wood before I order?

Yes. The wood gallery is at 1946 Railroad Street in Statham, inside Dave's Appliance & Home. Call (706) 614-7806 to schedule a visit and walk the slabs with Dave. If you're farther away, send room measurements and photos through the quote form, pick from slabs on the Shop page, and we send photos of your slab as the build goes.
