Rome is the Floyd County seat in northwest Georgia and, like its namesake, it was laid out across seven hills. The Etowah and Oostanaula rivers meet downtown to form the Coosa, and Broad Street runs through the historic business district near the confluence. Berry College, just north of town, has one of the largest college campuses in the country. The city's historic districts hold Victorian and early-1900s houses with separate dining rooms, a good setting for a traditional slab table. From Statham the route is GA 316 and I-85 to I-285, I-75 north toward Cartersville, then US 411 west into Rome, about 114 miles. Cave Spring, Calhoun and Cartersville are the nearby towns.
