Jefferson, Jackson County and the Crawford Long Museum
Jefferson is the Jackson County seat, about 15 miles north of our shop by GA 82. The Crawford W. Long Museum downtown tells the story of the Jefferson doctor who first used ether as a surgical anesthetic in 1842. The courthouse square keeps its older storefronts, and the county has grown quickly along I-85 and US 129. Housing mixes older homes near downtown with newer subdivisions and small farms. At this distance you can come to Statham to see slabs in person, and come back to check the one you pick before the resin pour or finish. Commerce, Pendergrass, Nicholson and Braselton are close by.
