Custom Table Build Timeline: Live-Edge and Epoxy River Tables

How a custom live-edge or epoxy river table build progresses, from design and slab selection through resin cure, finish and delivery. 1of1 Woodworker in Statham, Georgia explains the stages.
Timeline depends on design complexity
A straightforward live-edge dining table moves differently than a multi-pour resin river table or a long conference table with a custom base. We set expectations after we know size, species, resin work, and finish — not before.
Below is the usual sequence at 1 of 1 Woodworker so you can plan around renovations, move-in dates, or office openings across Georgia.
1. Inquiry, room plan, and rough scope
You share seating count, room photos or dimensions, and the look you want. We confirm whether the piece is residential dining, live-edge statement, river table, or workplace conference use.
If you can visit Statham, slab selection at this stage often shortens later revisions.
2. Slab selection and design lock
Once the wood (or book-matched pair) is chosen and the top footprint is locked, we can sequence shop time. Changes to length, river layout, or base style after this point may add days or weeks.
3. Build, epoxy (if any), and cure
Solid-wood builds focus on flatten, joinery, and shaping. Resin rivers need pour windows and full cure before aggressive machining and polish — weather and shop schedule affect epoxy stages more than dry woodwork alone.
- Simpler solid tops: fewer waiting stages between woodworking steps.
- River / deep epoxy: allow cure time between pours and before finish.
- Custom steel or complex wood bases: may run in parallel or after the top.
4. Finish, inspection, and delivery or pickup
Finish coats need dry time between applications. Final inspection covers flatness, sheen, and edge feel before the table leaves the shop.
Ask for a current estimate when you inquire — we would rather give a realistic window for your design than a one-size promise. Rush requests are discussed case by case against the existing queue.
Delivery available, quoted per order; installation quoted separately.
