Custom furniture vs made-to-order furniture
Plenty of Atlanta stores sell made-to-order furniture: you pick a fabric, a stain and a size from a menu, and a factory builds it. Custom furniture from 1 of 1 Woodworker works differently. Dave designs and builds each piece from a specific slab of wood, so the finished table cannot be repeated.
That distinction matters when you are spending real money on a piece you plan to keep for decades. With a true custom build you choose the exact wood, see it before it is cut, and talk directly with the person building it.
What we make
1 of 1 Woodworker, also known as Custom Wooden Tables, is built around tables and live-edge furniture. The workshop and wood gallery are at 1946 Railroad Street in Statham, Georgia, about 56 miles from downtown Atlanta.
- Live-edge dining tables

Five questions to answer before you call
A little planning makes the first conversation about your custom furniture much faster. These are the questions Dave will ask.
- Where will the piece live, and what are the room dimensions?
- How many people should it seat or serve every day, and on special occasions?
- Do you want a natural live edge, an epoxy river, or a cleaner straight edge?
- What base fits the room: steel legs, a wood trestle, or something heavier?
- How will it get into the room: stairs, elevators, tight doorways?
Choosing the wood
Species sets the tone of a piece. Walnut is dark and rich, oak is lighter with strong grain, and maple is pale and smooth. Our kiln-dried walnut, oak and maple guide covers how each looks and takes a finish. We prefer stable, kiln-dried material for furniture that will live indoors in Georgia.
Character is the other half. Highly figured slabs, burls and wide single-piece tops have more visual drama than quieter grain. The best way to judge it is in person, which is why we invite Atlanta clients to walk the slab racks in Statham. You can also start on our Shop page, which lists raw slabs in the shop right now.
Pieces worth seeing before you decide
Our Projects page documents finished builds so you can see the range. The Midnight Sky table pairs black walnut with a deep blue epoxy river. The live-edge walnut dining table uses black resin fills to stabilize and highlight natural voids. The Celtic cross carved table shows hand-carved detail on a live-edge showpiece, and the 2,500 lb old growth redwood table sits on a custom X-frame metal base.
On the commercial side, the Akins Ford conference table in Winder has a hollowed leg base so power and data run through the structure.
What drives the price
We do not publish a price list because every piece is a one-off. Size, species, slab character, resin work, base and finish all move the number. Our cost guide explains each factor so you know what to expect, and quotes are free.
